![]() It has been designed with reamping in mind and makes life so much easier but the principles are still the same. Below I have included a track which I reamped using the Avid Eleven Rack interface. I have used this technique many times and find it one of the best methods for getting great guitar tones especially if you have limited resources and studio space. You can now spend as long as you want dialling in the right tone, getting the right mic placement and experiment with different mics without having to worry about wasting the musicians time. Next you have to send that track out your interface and into the input of the guitar amp and mic up the cab as usual (onto a new track). This can be achieved in a few different ways firstly a DI output from the amp or a DI taken from a splitter before the amp (DI box). ![]() Firstly you need a dry track with no processing on it. The process is quite simple once you get your head around it. The process of reamping allows you to re-track the same guitar part without the musician being there, WOW. This is OK if you can get the musician back in to re-track the guitar but most of the time, if not all, this will not be possible. Ever recorded a guitar track and when tracking thought ‘yeah that guitar tone is killer’ only to find when you come to the mix stage it is a bit lack lustre and not quite right. This is a widely used technique by many artist including Joe Satriani, for a bit more history check out the reamp website.
